I was looking down at the little window that Mama the barn cat uses to come and go from the big barn, and a large tabby type cat was sitting on the windowsill.  Mama was frolicking around right in front of him, so they know each other - I wonder if he will hang around for long.  I hope he is friendly.

I have been in need of a comfortable, practical, somewhat custom couch for my parlor.  I've been chilling on a very stylish, and very uncomfortable, vintage sofa for a few years, and it's time for a change.  I love all of the green, recycled DIY furniture you can find on line, particularly palette furniture, so with the help of Reeber Woodworking and a bunch of clean, free palettes from my day job, here is the base frame for my new L-shaped movie viewing, doggie lounge comfort center.  It's actually the size of two single beds, which will also be handy for maximum house guest capacity.  Next task:  cushions and pillows.  I love how it's coming out so far.

when cheese makers gather

I attended a forum in Grand Rapids Thursday between the Michigan Department of Agriculture and most of Michigan's artisan cheese makers - all 8 of us.  It was great, lots of information and experiences shared, plus they paid us to attend

The cheese spread was great - everyone brought samples of their work

The moderator posted some meeting ground rules - I think these are excellent rules for life in general
