the Goddess

Evelyn is a resident of the Grand Traverse Commons, the Victorian state hospital turned mixed-use building here we have our Saturday indoor Farmer's Market.  She is 95 years old, rocks amazing fashions, and last week was strolling the halls playing Christmas carols on her accordion.  She may be God.

the roots

Beautiful winter root vegetables traded at the farmer's market: gigantic shallots, celeriac, parsnips and squash from Bare Knuckle and Birch Point Farms

more comfortable

My sweet senior kitty Mabel, who has spent almost two solid years living in the basement, has been coming upstairs a lot more in the past few weeks.  Here she is rolling on the rug in front of the refrigerator, and curled up in the bathroom closet.  She is so sweet and doesn't mind the dogs or Rudy, which is what I thought was keeping her downstairs.  I am so happy to see her up in the house with the rest of us!

sweet Jen

My dear friend Jen, who lives in Nairobi, paid me a visit last week - we have known one another for 20+ years, and her parents live in Traverse City

Jen always come bearing great gifts from her world travels, and this time they came in an equally awesome paper gift bag from Africa with happy gator and brick motif

Then we drank wine!

Definitely eat something bigger than your head, or your whole body for that matter, if you are a bunny!

a little bit closer now

Mama barn cat let me get very close to her this morning, after I served their breakfast - she was purring loudly.  Black Barn Cat is in the background, still a little shy to come closer

pop-up Farmer's Market

I was invited to sell some cheese at a beautiful shop in Elk Rapids, MI - I set up right in their front window and had a nice day up there selling cheese & chatting with the locals

flip it and reverse it

Space is becoming premium in the Boss Mouse cheese cave, so we turned some of the older, firmer wheels up on end to fit more wheels per shelf.  So far, so good.

My new to me, second-hand Carhartt jumpsuit. SEXY.

real style

A true Fashion Grandpa, Traverse City - note the tartan pants and jaunty tilt of the hat.  When I asked if I could take his photograph, he said "why of course".

cray-cray

This booklet was in my mailbox this week - it was addressed to all Kingsley residents, and is filled with poorly written religious rantings from an organization in Oklahoma.  Straight into the recycling.
