Cheese on film

Little Piros

A restaurant in Traverse City has asked me to develop a little stinky wheel of cheese for them.  My "Little Piros" ("little red" in Hungarian) is a washed rind cheese which will develop a characteristic orange rind, hence the name.  My recipe is a hybrid Muenster - Limburger, and it already smells strong.

Max & Max

My friend Chris and his family were over last week and pointed out that my dog Max was probably named after Detroit Tigers pitcher Max Scherzer, who also has a single blue eye.  Max came pre-named from the shelter, and I thought it was a fine name for a dog.

good boy!

Bricolage Farm

My neighbors have a beautiful farm down the road where they raise all kinds of pastured animals.  I trade the whey I produce from cheese making with them for vegetables and eggs.

Bricolage Farm have huge outdoor pens for their animals, who wander free outdoors in the sunshine.  I believe if you choose to keep livestock, you owe them the highest quality of life you can possibly provide, and Bricolage Farm does just that.  The animals were all healthy and happy.  Buy local! Slow food forever!

We all take a gamble that the things we choose to imprison ourselves with will free us eventually
