it's almost over

Things are starting to thaw this week, thank heavens.

RIP Frankie Knuckles

This is my favorite Frankie Knuckles track, plus it has a totally happy 90s video - turn up your speakers and I spy:
- dancing with wiener dogs
- high waisted leather pants
- hobgoblins
- Hammer-time dancin'-a-plenty
- a Renaissance Faire shirt
- awesome Whistler's Mother reference

MUSIC IS GOD!

Spring S T I L L hasn't quite arrived in Northern Michugan, so to warm things up, I made a big stove full of Tex-Mex food, from top left:  refried pinto beans, jalapeno-cheese tamales, rice, garlicky greens, and a Peruvian walnut-cotija cheese salsa huancaina for boiled potatoes

We spent an evening exploring Rainey Street, which is a residential part of town where all the historic houses are bars and restaurants.  We had never seen anything like it and it was one of our favorites

They are all separately owned and each has it's own theme or style, and most have back gardens

We had a drink at the beautiful Lustre Pearl
