I took my sewing machine for repair yesterday and I learned the technical name for the problem I am having with the unit - who knew!

fire cider
FIRE CIDER is a tincture and tonic, a fermented concoction of goodness that has many health benefits - I made a jar for myself this week:
fresh horseradish root from the garden - dug it up from under the snow!
into the blender with a bunch of other STRONG ingredients
blend and enjoy 1 TABLESPOON per day! Many recipes call for simply mixing the raw ingredients and not blending them, but I actually enjoy eating the stuff. Kiss me!
this was the recipe I used, though there are many variations out there

January thrift haul
To add to my collection of vintage health food cookbooks, two excellent finds: The Vegetarian Epicure, Book Two from 1978 (here was my post when I found book one) and another raw food "cook" book from 1980 - love these! $1 each
A true 1940s shabby chic single bed spread in a beautiful floral/berry pattern - it has a hand written history sewn on the inside naming all of the family members who owned it over the years $5
A real 80s dress in tartan polyester - ruffled side button in effect $3.00

heavy nettle
There are many proven health benefits to drinking stinging nettle tea, so yesterday I made a pitcher full, and nursed it throughout the day. Towards the afternoon I wasn't feeling so well - bloated, nauseous - then I read the fine print on the tea package: do not consume more than 1-2 cups per day. I drank 6! Feeling fine today :-)
