I am starting a kitchen project for the month of October: to prepare and eat the contents of my pantry before buying any new food. My self-imposed rules are:
- to only eat food that I have prepared from what I already have in the pantry, canned goods, frozen food, fresh vegetables from the garden, and my own eggs, cheese and milk
- I will only buy canning needs (vinegar, spices) some fruit (mostly citrus), herbs and soft cheese, if needed (cottage or cream cheese, yogurt), and salad greens. I will tally what money I spend on these sundry items.
I will post daily on what I make, in addition to the usual farm report. Bring on the adzuki beans and quinoa!
