The hollyhocks I planted by the barn last year finally blossomed in fluffy, crepe paper explosions of color. Then we had crazy thunder storms the other night that beat them down - here they are clobbered by the rain. They'll be fine.
And they make great cut flowers

I just found out THIS year (after having hollyhocks for 5 years!) that they need another sturdy perrenial in front of them to hold them up. I found this out by accident when I had a stand of them up with sturdy plants surrounding them, and a stand of them with nothing around that flopped
